Terbutaline (Brethine/Bricanyl) Maternal Injuries Attorneys

Mothers who were administered terbutaline during preterm labor can experience many long term adverse side effects.

A mother may experience general heart and lung problems, including:

  • increased heart rate
  • jitteriness
  • nervousness
  • tremors (especially in your hand)

Other possible effects on a mother who was given terbutaline may include:

  • dizziness
  • headaches
  • heightened blood sugar levels
  • nausea
  • irregular heartbeat (cardiac or cardiopulmonary arrhythmias)
  • pounding heart and/or rapid heartbeat (tachycardia)

Potentially severe side effects a mother may experience, although rare, include:

  • angina
  • low blood calcium
  • low blood potassium
  • severe low blood pressure
  • seizures
